Transition Activities - YouTube Playlist

Hello Year 6!

We have created a playlist of videos to show you some of the opportunities and music making activities you can get involved in at secondary school. Year 7 is a great time to start learning to play a musical instrument, get involved in a school music group or join an ensemble to the Albemarle Music Centre.

Have a look at the videos below, you will meet some of our teachers and the young people who learn with us, you can also join in with some or our Make and Create lessons or learn to sing Shotgun.

Introduction (2 mins)
Music Service students Helen and Ella show you a glimpse of the Albemarle Music Centre and how you can get involved in learning a musical instrument.

Learning music in your school (2 mins)
Here are some of the ways you can get involved in music-making at your school and at the Albemarle
 

Soundwaves:  Woodwind (2 mins)
Miss Siddle introduces the Clarinet and Saxophone and tells us what she loves about playing and teaching

Happy with the Albemarle Windbands (3 mins)
If you keep at it then you will be able to join in with loads of music-making at the Albemarle. Here are what the Windband put together last year featuring young musicians from all across Hull

Soundwaves: Electric Guitar (2 mins)
Mr Brown tells you what he loves about the electric guitar highly recommends you starting yourself!



Make and Create: Home Percussion 
Get your group to grab a selection of percussion instruments and join in with Mr Higley exploring some rhythms you can make with your percussion instruments. This video lasts 20 mins and can be at the centre of a session.

Soundwaves: Percussion and Composition (2 mins)
Tom Lawrence plays some drums and tells us how he got into writing his own music




Summer Samba with the Albemarle Percussion Team
There are loads of opportunities to get involved with all things percussion related! Here is a fabulous Summer Samba put together by percussion students and teachers for you to enjoy

Soundwaves: Singing and Piano (2 mins)
Mrs Prajsnar loves to play the piano and sing. Find out what inspired her to learn to sing and play.




Soundwaves: The Violin (2 mins)
Former Hull student and now teacher Kieran Lynch explores the Violin and shares his passion for the instrument and how it can help all your learning at school.


Razimbo with Rainbow Strings
If you liked the Violin or are interested in other string instruments like the Viola, Cello and Double Bass watch what String students got up to last year in their Virtual Performance of Razimbo.
