When you initially request lessons or apply to be part of an ensemble, the Music Service will collect the information on our registration form.
Once you start having lessons with us we will record information relating to these lessons and how they are progressing. We will also provide your school with updates regarding your progress.
We will process this personal information in accordance with conditions:
6(1)(b) processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract; in essence there is a contract between the child (or parent) and the music service to provide lessons and activities to the child
6(1)(f) processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child; the music service holds information about the lessons and the progress made in order to monitor how its staff are performing as teachers
9(2)(f) processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or whenever courts are acting in their judicial capacity; the service may need to keep information in case a claim is made against it
9(2)(j) processing is necessary for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89(1) based on Union or Member State law which shall be proportionate to the aim pursued, respect the essence of the right to data protection and provide for suitable and specific measures to safeguard the fundamental rights and the interests of the data subject. We may need to process data in order to monitor and review how our services are working or to support research. Wherever possible this is done without using data that identifies any individuals but this may not always be possible.
Once you have been provided with a service from us we will keep your information for 3 years after you stop, unless you have been involved in an accident or incident during your activities with us, if this is the case, we will keep your information until you reach 25 years of age
