This workshop day will bring together young musicians from local Music Hubs and other community groups to establish the Humber region’s first Youth Jazz Academy.
There will be workshop sessions in singing, rhythm sections, saxophone and free improvisation plus the chance to take part in informal jazz sessions and enjoy a short performance by National Youth Jazz Orchestra ambassadors. Most importantly, this will offer young people the opportunity to take part in a NYJO Regional Academy and to decide how they’d like the Academy to develop in future years.
The day will be fully supported by National Youth Jazz Orchestra educators, ambassador artists, including world-famous jazz artists Orphy Robinson and Adam Saunders, and Andy Scott and Kev Holbrough from the Supertramp Big Band
Age guidance and ability level: This event is for musicians aged 12-years-old and upwards. Young people aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Adult musicians are also welcome. All abilities welcome, with everyone learning from each other. The day is free of charge for under-26s, with a £10 enrolment fee for adults aged 26+.
Produced in association with National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Hull, East Riding, North and NE Lincolnshire Music Hubs and Hull Jazz Festival with support from the Peter Sowerby Foundation
