What a festival!
It is a very long time since we had almost 600 entries, and with only a very few withdrawals the festival ‘kicked off’ on a high note with the Bursary classes. Not only were all the classes well supported the standard of performance was better than ever, and this was the general feeling of the 7 day event.
Once again the Hull Music Teachers supported the festival 100% both from the music services and the Hull Primary schools; it was good to see more entries from the East Riding but disappointing that some schools had already broken up and unable to take part. It was very exciting to have 11 primary school choirs and 10 junior percussion groups competing, sharing their various styles and talents with each other, together with a very enthusiastic audience. Our thanks go particularly to the head teachers for their enabling this to happen.
Next year we hope to invite more specialist adjudicators and hope that this will attract even more entries
HMF is indebted to the support received from the Hull Music Services and to be able to use the wonderful facilities of the Albemarle Music Centre.
So very many people gave their time to help our small dedicated committee with all various jobs required; ie Box Office, Competitors Steward, Adjudicators Steward and Announcing. We are so grateful to all these friends of the festival who assist in the smooth running of the festival.
…….So here is to the next one and we hope to see you again in March 2018
