Why a Friends' Association ?

The Friends’ Association raises money for the benefit of all the Bands, Choirs and Orchestras who rehearse at the Albemarle Music Centre under the guidance of tutors from Hull Music Service.

All money raised goes towards:

  • Instruments and other musical equipment
  • Purchase / hire of sheet music
  • Biennial European tours.

What do we do?

We organise and run events (when we can!) such as Craft Fairs, Film Matinees, Quiz Nights, and more.  Our events are designed to be fun for everyone, young and old, musician or non-musician.  At concerts we hold raffles, provide refreshments and sell programmes; we run an Online Lottery, promote gift aid and generally find ways of extracting money from as many people as possible.

What's in it for you ?

Pupils and ensemble members whose families have joined the Friends’ Association receive a subsidy towards the cost of the biennial tours abroad for the senior bands, choirs and orchestras.  We provide extra funding for authentic cases of hardship.

Members can benefit from a DISCOUNT with:

Gough & Davy offer members a 10% discount on all purchases in their Paragon Street shop (at the City Hall building) !

Beverley Music Centre and Slave to the Beat also offer discounts.

Hull City Hall offers reductions on tickets for Music service concerts and the Masters Series concerts.

Our events are advertised on the Calendar (top of this page) and through flyers distributed to the young musicians and available at the Albemarle Music Centre.
