Join in with our musical activities at home or at nursery.

We have created some musical songs and games that link to the books from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. 

We will introduce you to some of our musical instruments, teach you some fun songs and even show you how to make your own music at home or at nursery.

Gloria has been inspired to make some art works while listening to music.

Get your crayons and paints ready and join Gloria, where will your imagination take you?

Gloria is making animal noises while she reads Boo Boo Baby and the Giraffe.  Can you spot the animal sounds on the different musical instruments?  Look out for the drum, clarinet, cello and trombone.

Gloria has been to the beach on Stanley’s Train. Where would you like to go on a train? 

Join in with Gloria as she makes the train noises and sings a song about trains.

Gloria has been looking around her house for things that make great sound effects. Can you find things that make noises in your house? Add some sound effects to the story, can you make a sound for the eggs cracking, the miaow of the cat and the twit twoo of the owl?

Gloria is busy brushing her teeth, she’s been reading Hey Duggee – The Tooth Brushing Badge. 

Find out about an instrument that can be played with brushes and have a go at making your own rhythms and sounds with different brushes.

Gloria has been reading Is that you Little Bear?

Little Bear is hiding in a cave, he is playing some home made instruments, can you help Gloria to guess the right one?

Gloria has been reading You Choose Fairy Tales by Nick Sharratt.

Make your own shaker with Gloria and choose your own music to dance along too!
Try out different containers and fillings to make shakers that sound different.

Lion and Mouse

Gloria has been reading Lion and Mouse by Catalina Echeverri.

Can you roar like a lion and squeak like a mouse? Join in singing with Gloria using your loud voice like a lion and your quiet voice like a mouse.

Counting songs

Gloria is working on her counting, join her with these great number songs. You might need a teddy to help you and even some yummy cakes!

The Three Little Pigs

It’s Gloria’s birthday! She needs a lot of puff to blow out all of the candles on her birthday cake! Find out about two musical instruments that need a lot of puff to play; the oboe and the bassoon. Would the Big Bad Wolf be able to play these instruments when he huffs and puffs?

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Gloria discovers some interesting sounds as she munches and crunches her way through the Hungry Caterpillar! Explore some percussion instruments and see if you can find things that make similar sounds at home.

Goodnight Digger
