Battle of the Bands Competition
Saturday 30th June 2018
Albemarle Music Centre.
The competition is open to all secondary schools and to bands from the Youth Service and other Community Groups across the City.
General details:
- Entry will be through an online entry form on a first come first served basis with a maximum of 12 bands taking part (one band per school/organisation)
- Industry Standard Live Sound Equipment from I.T.S.L. together with their sound engineers will provide the young people with the experience of performing with the highest standard of equipment.
- Open to secondary school aged participants with no ensemble size restrictions
- Each band is to have a member of staff responsible for them on the day and as a point of contact in the organisation of the event
- Workshop opportunities with Hull Music Service staff leading into the event will be made available
Performance Criteria
- Live Performance only (no backing tracks)
- All popular music genres welcome
- Covers and/or Originals welcome (each band to play no more than 10 minutes of music)
- All backline equipment provided the Hull Music Service
- An afternoon rehearsal and sound-check for each band
Awards and Prizes
- A panel of experts will judge the competition
- 3 awards – 1 for Best Band and 2 highly commended
- First prize is a recording session at Hull College working with a producer to produce a 3 track E.P
- 3 winning bands each to get a 20 min set on the Youth Stage at the Humber Street Sesh 2018
The event is open for families and friends of the groups to come and support the event. Ticket details will be known nearer the time.
